Easily Find Windows System Folders

Navigating through the Windows file system can be difficult especially when you need to find a specific system folder. You have the need to find the folder where your cookies are stored or possibly the folder that contains your temporary internet files. Using the shell command there is a handy way to find them easily. Here’s how:

  1. Click Start | Run
  2. In the Run box type shell:’folder name’

Here are some of the more commonly used shell folders:

  • shell:Cookies – display the cookies folder
  • shell:Cache – displays temporary Internet files
  • shell:Favorites – displays the IE Favorites folder
  • shell:SendTo – displays the Send To folder
  • shell:MyMusic – displays the My Music folder
  • shell:MyPictures – displays the My Pictures folder
